Welcome to California, home of Sequoia National Park, home to the world's biggest trees!
Wowza!
These Sequoias have soft squishy spongy bark that has helped them live thousands of years, surviving insects and fires.
admiring the second largest tree
a fallen over tree
Wuksahi Lodge was a beautiful place for us to stay 2 nights in Sequoia National Park. The Stewart building had roomy rooms, the lodge had good pizza, and the shuttle stop was close.
the shuttles delivered us to many trail heads
General Sherman Trial. Happy Father's Day!
taking a picture of the world's largest tree takes flexibility
We saw and followed mule deer
We felt the reverence on this trail.
So tiny! I guess this is what it feels like to be a mouse at the foot of a 6 foot human.
"giant forest museum"
Giant rocks too
We saw 2 black bears on the Big Trees Trail
Walking among Giants
Climbing Moro Rock: steep and windy steps of granite with surprising views at every turn
It was equally scary and rewarding.
Ben loves all the scenery and viewpoints
The lizards like it up there too
Tunnel Log was a fun place to play around. No longer is there a live tree to drive through, but you can this tree that had already fell. We rode the shuttle an extra trip to spend more time there.
The next morning we drove out of Sequoia and down into Kings Canyon. Lydia and I were happy to get out of the car and enjoy rushing water.
And many waterfalls, there were. Roaring River Falls
Zumwalt Meadows
Grizzly Falls
