Summer Camps

This was a summer of camps! The girls spent days at ECEC, OC Rec camp, Girl Scout Camp, YMCA (Colorado), and "Camp Grandma." We'll go through the pros and cons of each.

ECEC SUMMER CAMP
Pros: This is where Lydia attended 3K, so she was familiar with the place. The staff heat up lunches, so Spaghettios was on the table. Storytime with Ted. Location. Cons: 1 word: sunscreen

OAK CREEK REC DEPT SUMMER CAMP
Pros: Group games for as long the day was long. Painted ceramics for Staycation Week. Brewers game and bowling for Sports Week. Cons: Abby had to go even when it wasn't a work day for Mom

GIRL SCOUT CAMP
Pros: First Sleep Away Camp Experience! Independence. New friends, old friends. Crafts. GS Patch. Cons: Homesickness
Buddies: Lydia & Danielle plus camper "Suzy the Snake"
Everybody was known by their camp names: "Microbe," "Mario," "Firefly," and "Spots"

CAMP GRANDMA
Pros: Time with grandma and cousins. Crafts.
Dad was in Miami for work training, and Mom joined.

The girls say this was a good summer and school is coming too early. I am again so thankful that I could send them to these camps for these positive experiences while I was at work.

JULY MEMORIES

Annual Salvation Ride was another great day! 25 miles gets easier every time!

Face Painting Fun at CFA

(baby front teeth still hanging on)

Sleepover at Aunt Stacy's so Ben and I could go on a date...
Happy 11th Anniversary to US!
Braise Farm Dinner on a hot hot evening. Ladies were fanning themselves with their plates. We had great dinner conversation with self titled, "Farmer Paul."

Shipwrecked VBS
A great week of VBS! I got to job share the KidVid cave with Natalie. Lydia's favorite song is track 7 on the CD: Eye of the Storm and she has the actions perfected. Abby's favorite is track 8: Rescue Me "because it sounds lovely"

This girl loves water balloons! Beware...
Family water fight is about to commence!
A dog's gotta cool off too!

Crashing into shore with the waves
Lazy Days
We're so fortunate to have Grant Park Beach just 15 minutes from our house
The girls love it there, and just a few days later, when some friends from Peoria were traveling through Milwaukee, they made a beach day of it there, shot us a message, and we met up!

Hannah, Maelee, Matt, Claire, Micah, Deanna, Lydia, Nathan, Julie, Abby, Ben

Abby lost both those front baby teeth and she was cute before, but now her adorableness is off the charts!

The girls still enjoy the baby rides at Little Amerika, but now also the rocket ride (like the Zipper but more turning every which way). I am NOT getting back on that thing! On the roller coaster, Meteor, Abby was proud to keep her hands high in the air the entire ride.
My only contact with Lydia this week has been a fb post by Camp Evelyn about how much fun the girl scouts are having at CSI (Camp Scene Investigation) week.
The week before, we started to worry how she'd do her hair. She successfully did her own ponytail and I wanted to cry because she's so grown up! At any rate, it appears she found someone to style her hair, at least on this day.
We miss you!
