Fourth of July Parade

Lydia was excited to walk in her first parade with Girl Scouts
They tossed candy, walked, and got an occasional ride on a wagon.
When she saw us, she ran over with her water spray bottle.

Afterwards, we played games and then went home to rest. I played with the South Milwaukee Municipal Band for a concert in the park at 7 and then stayed for the fireworks show.
Happy Independence Day!

John's Lake

We camped out at John's Lake the weekend before the Fourth.
The girls had a lot of fun swimming to the raft and back.

Co-tubing was also fun. Maybe next year they'll go by themselves.

Just one rainy morning this year. Lots of fun in and out of the water and always good to see everyone in the Schmidt family who can make it!

1st Library Card!

Lydia was excited to get her 1st library card and this is the first book she checked out with it!
We are participating in the summer reading program, reading every day, and going to some really cool workshops and some really cheesy shows, Circus Boy being one of the latter.

Happy Birthday to our puppy, Rio!

Our playful sweet puppy turned 1 on June 26th!
We baked him a carrot "pupcake" with peanut butter & cream cheese frosting.
(the pupcake was good for puppies and humans. We all tried it and it was like a less sweet morning glory muffin)
He's a wonderful addition to our family.
He loves to go on walks and is less jumpy now. We love our fluffy guy!
The girls of course enjoyed decorating it with bananas, treats and kibble.
He really liked the ice cream!
Happy Birthday!

Girl Scout Overnight @ Ross Lodge

Lydia had her first overnight with her Girl Scout Troop. Most of the moms stayed too. It was so much fun for them! They were assigned kapers (chores around camp), chose their journey (A World of Girls) and voted on their troop crest (Unicorn-for it's rare beauty!) and they went to sleep...eventually (10pm?)
