Corpus Christi/Padre Island July 1-6

For our summer vacation, we picked a spot in Texas, the beachy Corpus Christi/Padre Islands!

We loved our AirBNB "Palm Bay Paradise in the Sun"
We were in the pool every day.
funny moments!

Someone forgot their swimsuit, so here we are at one of the many gift shops with a gigantic shark...?
It's fun at any rate.

We hadn't planned on this, but were quick to find out that Turtle hatchlings were being released at sunrise at the Padre Island National Seashore, just 25 minutes away.

Help cute endangered turtles reach the ocean?-we're in!

Afterwards we walked the seashore and looked for shells

Daddy-Daughter Walk

Beautiful Lydia contemplating big stuff, I'm sure.

Corpus Christi boasts an awesome aquarium, Texas State Aquarium

waiting for dolphin show to start

Abby wasn't a fan of the 3 surprise splashes, but they actually enjoyed the show. It was really cool!

Inside there was more than just fish.

Look up!-a sloth-a sunning-not as slow as you think-real live sloth!

Lydia helps demonstrate the thickness of the Plexiglas

Adult Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle (same as the hatchlings we saw)

USS Lexington here-we didn't tour, but they do lots of events

BEACH DAY at Whitecap Beach

Rio's happy to be at the beach too!

Smiles...we have smiles... :)
Relaxing
Back at the condo, chilling on the porch after showering.

We had a wicked game of water shooters at the pool :P

For the Fourth, we went into Corpus Christi for their big city festivities. It was sweltering hot.
Abigail was funny with the bird. She was making sure it did not pass the glove to scratch her arm, like it did Lydia's.
The bunnies were much softer.

piddly parade at noon.

Fireworks by the Yacht Club back on the island at night were great!

The next day were explored Port Aransas a bit. Again, very hot, but we found an air conditioned family friendly pizza place. And Lydia spotted an alligator in the distance. It just looked like a log, but everyone with binoculars assured us it was indeed an alligator.

Making friends at the pirate ship play set and overheating. Decided not to take the ferry.
Souvenir shopping
Nice way to end the vacation. Blue Bell ice cream at Snoopy's Pier
Less than 4 hours away. I can see ourselves visiting again!
