Breakfast on the Farm

We went to Racine County's Breakfast on the Farm. It was like a county fair, but less crazy and with a generous dairy-licious breakfast!
 "I Milked 'Addie' the Cow"
Alice in Dairyland stopped by as we were enjoying our hearty farmer's breakfast.
This is how they made the scrambled eggs for hundreds of people...
yes...with dustpans!

We climbed up into all the big farm equipment,
 even the old rusty ones.

 So much agricultural fun!
 Live music and Petting zoo!
We had a fun time and learned to appreciate where our breakfast comes from. While this breed of rabbits makes nice gentle pets, some people choose to turn them into stew...no, thank you!!

Strawberry Picking

It's been probably 15 years since I've last gone strawberry picking. My Grandma Bolgert would get us out into the strawberry fields sometime during it's short producing season, and I always enjoyed the experience. Now, I've finally taken our girls out and hopefully made some good memories for them too.

Lydia wanted to get to the farm right when it opened and didn't want to be late. (she's her father's daughter!) The girls got to work promptly.

Lydia would say, "I've been looking for this one!"

Abigail would ask, "Is this one all red?" to be sure she was getting only the ripe strawberries.

Sampling in the field is a must.
Yup, they're good!

Thanks for a picture perfect summer morning, Berryville Farm!

Now we can have waffles with Fresh strawberries.
This Is Summer!

Father's Day Weekend

"Baby Will" turned ONE and had a fun party.
Kinsey, Lydia & Abigail enjoyed the yummy "1" cookies.
Lydia had fun with her bucket full of party favors.

We dined al fresco all day on Father's Day, starting with the comics and Menards ad delivered to him with breakfast, and ending with grilling out on the patio.
I know I have a picture of Lydia eating corn on the cob when she was smaller, so gotta get one of Abigail. Kids can be so cute digging into a corn cob.
Ben is hands down...best dad ever!!
And we'll love him forever and ever and ever!

Z-O-O...Zoo!

The bears were active and playful in the pool when we got to them.
Then they looked right at us!
Kind of cute, kind of eerie.

We were happy to catch the Birds of Prey show.  Abigail was just getting a little tired and moody.
Various birds flew right over our heads. Lydia was most intrigued by the parrot that could really talk!
They got to get up close to the bird that amusingly took donations from your hand if you folded the bill correctly.

Before we left, the girls wanted to pose in the zebra chairs,
and we had a relaxing train ride.
Nothing like the Z-O-O to make you T-I-R-E-D.

School/Summer/Basement Transition

Old carpet gets kicked to the curb, and the girls hit the cul-de-sac with their wheels.
Since I'm going to post a singing video of Lydia, I have to post this silly song and dance of Abigail:
As you could hear, Ben spent most of Memorial Day weekend making final cuts for the basement. The girls were festive in their summer dresses by Gma Jan. We did enjoy the weather and grill out. The basement flooring was laid Tuesday and Wednesday.
Memorial Day Weekend
The school had a little Father's Day event like they did for Mother's Day. Lydia was excited to have Daddy go to school with her!
As we make finishing touches on the basement, the girls play in Barbie Central.
Here's one view of the basement as we take a snack break.
Lydia grew tons in counting and writing letters this year, had a fun classroom experience, and will miss her friends. The end of school program was exciting and cute.

"I'm Going to be a Superstar!"

She got a graduation certificate from her substitute teacher, Mrs. Reidenbach.
Lydia loved having Mrs. DiVilio for her teacher until she went on maternity leave! We hope Abigail will get her in 2 years.
Well, just two more days of school, then it's really summer, but that hasn't prevented us from bringing out the sprinkler and rice box on these lovely days.
