Ah, the Ephesus ruins… We loved it because we actually walked the streets, went inside the library, visited the latrines, and sat in the theater. So we got a real feel for the big ancient city. Oh, and the cats. There were lots of cats.

So the cats aren’t just cute and photogenic, they were introduced to chase the scorpions and snakes away.
When they’re not napping of course.
We took Marble Road past the “world’s first advertisement” for a brothel, and onward to the theater.
The apostle Paul lived in Ephesus for 3 years. Paul preached or was about to preach against pagan worship in this theater. This was bad for business for silversmiths who made Artemis figurines and thus invoked riots and confusion. Capacity of 24,000
In Roman times, it was enlarged.
Recently, Elton John, Sting, and Diana Ross have performed concerts here, to name a few.
