Zoo Boo, Train Ride & Garden Day

Lots of people were back out at the Zoo. It was a hot day on October 10th.

It was also opening day for the new Pantanal exhibit

We had a good time back at the zoo. Boo!

The Houston Area Live Steamers put on a haunted ride, and we rode it.

It was a fun little ride.

We stopped at a road side market on the way home for some necessities.

Sampson Elementary has a garden that the 2nd and 3rd graders get to work with monthly. On the weekend volunteers were needed to weed and move dirt. Lydia was a great team leader, and Abby was a work horse with a wheelbarrow and shovel.

It felt fantastic to be outside working on the school garden with other Sampson families.

Tomball Corn Maze

I was kind of excited. I had tickets for something for once: opening day of the Tomball Corn Maze
They had some games in the beautiful open field like bean bag toss and giant sling shot, but the culvert races were the best!

We started off with the youth maze, and then tackled the adult maze. Phew-was it huge! Good thing they had stations all around or we would never have gotten through for sure!

They were hot and tired coming out of the maze-but it was good fall fun!

Making our own Fun

Look at our cool tie-dye t-shirts.

We made them!
Abby interviewed us as we worked.

I think she was inspired by the hosts of Master Chef.

While we waited for our shirts to dry, we got our flu shots and went out to Panera.

The next day we ventured out together in our shirts and took a picture.

The next week we got a hurricane Rain Day, and it was as much fun as a Snow Day!
“We won’t make assumptions about that shopping cart.” 😆

Back to School

It's the first day back to school since Spring Break and somehow they're in 5th and 3rd grades!!

"Jitter Juice" the night before to chase the butterflies away

TOGETHER WE SHINE

Mrs. Brandon/Mrs. Price                   Mrs. Manuel/Mrs. Long
I wasn't going to believe it till it happened, but the girls "R BACK" in school with face masks, desk shields and lots of sanitizer. Abby said it was weird. I don't think Lydia minds the changes as much, except for having to carry supplies back and forth daily so crews can sanitize. 30% of students (including Lydia's 2 friends) opted to at least start off virtually on CFISD Connect

I just LOVE this self portrait from the first day

Lydia quickly hit it off with Halle in her class :)

We are ready for a good year no matter what!

Dwindling Summer

As the last weeks of summer slowly passed, we had: a pleasant evening trip to the community pool

A dressy dress up day
(where they wore their finest dress & shoes and took pictures like it was prom or something)

a Mommy-Daughter date to Orange Leaf
(loaded up on those boba balls)

Weekly gymnastics (firecrackers) classs
(some days more reluctantly than others)

a Mommy-Daughter date to playground, library pick up (more Jack Russel books) and shopping

discovered a new park with a big splash pad! (Zube Park)
(they loved this "hut")

and we reconnected with friends!

August Visit to Midwest-part 2

We got to Grandma Jan's on Sunday, and we had Jacob and Nathan there Monday morning to do tie dye!!

playing in the river
then they got to do it again with Kinsey and Kayla!

The girls got a new back to school outfit with Grandma!
while we got away at a B & B in Sheffield, IL

Starved Rock was closed due to storms, but we had fun hitting some balls together.

This was not the best restaurant, but Spoons in Princeton, IL was (watermelon brueschetta!)

Finally, Dan & Kaitlyn had us over to their new house!

Bicycling in Port Byron :)

A refreshingly good time catching up with family!

HoCo 2026
