New Home Sweet Home

6 Months-So Strong-Labor Day

Sadly, my camera is at the repair shop. Thankfully, Aunt Sarah took these pictures over Labor Day.

At 6 months, she's again beautifully average in weight and length: 16lb 4oz, 26 1/4 in.

 Baby push-ups at Kohler-Andrae State Park! It won't be long before she starts crawling.

Uncle Greg brought a hammock and there were two perfect trees to hang it on :)

Fantastic weather, waves, picnic & family on Labor Day.

Confidence

 In just a matter of days Abigail has gone from propped little thing between two couch cushions to confident sitter anywhere!

Now she's trying new things in the kitchen:  cereal, mangos, apples, peas & beans, etc. I just love those yummy sounds and sour faces!

Lydia has experienced a confidence boost too since she surprised herself that she can pee on the potty!

The old Lydia would have Daddy walk her across the wobbly bridge; the new Lydia takes it slow and steady...

 ...and makes it across all by herself! Whoo-hoo!

 Even the three-spiral high slide is no threat to her newfound confidence. She must be wondering why she ever hesitated. She slid down about ten times!

And for us? Well we're confident parents taking our two kids on a hike :)

Silly Kid

Lydia may call you a "silly kid," but she's the real silly kid. Just see for yourself:

She's making funny faces and blowing bubbles in her drinks. If you ask her what she's doing she'll say, "making bubble sounds," as if it were as innocent an activity as eating a sandwich. At the same time, Abigail is making funny vibrating sounds with her mouth. Those two are quite the pair. Lydia has actually been helpful with feeding Abigail baby cereal. Lydia is careful with the spoon, but sometimes her efforts are thwarted when Abigail grabs the spoon for herself. 

We've been staying with Grandma Linda so there are new kids all around. As soon as Lydia spots one or two or ten, she is overcome with a force that makes her go over to say hello and see what they're doing. We found out, as Lydia swung her arms back and forth with a shy smile on her face, that the boy across the street is named Daniel and is 22 months old. The girls playing with bubbles two blocks away are named Sophia, Adrianna, and Kaitlyn.
The highlight of our weekend was going to the beach Saturday morning and jumping over the waves, Lydia on Daddy's shoulders, having a silly good time. Or, Ben might say it was enjoying a strawberry shave ice at Brat Days with Lydia.
